Tomato Flu – When to Consult a Doctor

A new type of virus called tomato flu is spreading in Kerala. See the news bulletin on this.

People in India, who have been trapped in the grip of the corona for the past two years, are now slowly returning to normalcy, raising fears that a new type of flu has begun to spread in the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu, Kerala. It is also known as tomato fever because of the tomato-colored patches on the body of people with the flu.

This type of fever is prevalent in the Kollam district of Kerala. Children under the age of five are particularly susceptible to this type of fever. So far, 85 children have been hospitalized with tomato fever. Officials say the number is likely to rise further, including those receiving treatment in private hospitals.

Kerala Health Department

In this connection, the Kerala Health Department is raising awareness among the people about the Tomato Fever. The health department has also intensified surveillance in Ariyankavu, Anchal and Neduvathur areas in Kollam district. People are also advised not to panic unnecessarily.

It has been reported that red patches on the skin with fever and irritation, fever, and painful rash that persist for more than two days may be symptoms of tomato fever. It is also advisable to consult a doctor immediately if such symptoms occur. However, tomatoes are not related to this virus, which affects tomato color.

Surveillance has been intensified across the state borders in the wake of the spread of tomato fever in Kerala, a neighboring state of Tamil Nadu.

A new type of virus is attacking children under the age of five in Kerala. It can affect children like tiny red patches on the body. This is why it is called tomato fever. Fear is spreading among the people that this tomato fever will spread to children in Tamil Nadu. Because of the spread of bird flu and swine flu in Kerala, there are fears that the flu could spread to the people.

Tamilnadu Government Over Tomato Fever

Due to this, the Government of Tamil Nadu has intensified surveillance on all the borders of Kerala. As part of this, audits have been intensified at all check posts in Valayaru, Velandavalam, and Mangarai on the Kerala border in the Coimbatore district. Authorities are cracking down on all vehicles coming from Kerala, including two-wheelers and four-wheelers, as well as government buses. The three departments involved are the Revenue Department, the Health Department, and the Police Department. Any children with symptoms are referred to the Coimbatore Government Hospital.

According to the health department, more than 50 children have been screened at the Walayar check post and none of them have shown any symptoms so far. Meanwhile, Coimbatore District Collector Samiran said that Anganwadi workers have been instructed to create awareness about the virus.

Doctors say that tomato fever will not affect the climatic conditions of Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister of Government Rajiv Gandhi Hospital Dr. Terani Rajan has explained this. As he speaks, viral infections usually affect the heart. But he said there had been no immediate outbreaks of tomato fever.
